Moulding The Future: PERI Qatar's 2024 in Review

This year has been exceptional in many ways. From overcoming challenges with a resilient team to reaching unparalleled milestones, we are reflecting on our journey in 2024. We asked our Managing Director Dr. Jean Francois on his perspective of the past year and on PERI's strategic approach to navigating future dynamics and seizing upcoming opportunities successfully.

 

How do you perceive the year 2023 for PERI Qatar?

Since the start of its operations in Qatar in 2007, PERI Qatar had the opportunity to be selected to participate on many of the most exciting and demanding construction projects associated with Qatar’s 2030 Vision plans and the 2022 World Cup. In addition, since 2015, the PERI Qatar team has also dedicated a lot of efforts to introduce its innovative system scaffolding, PERI UP, to Industrial Service Providers and Asset Owners in the Qatar Oil and Gas sector. In 2024, while the country is still catching its breath following the successful completion of the World Cup, the PERI Qatar Team is benefiting from its diversification and the very successful penetration of its system scaffolding, PERI UP, in the Industrial business segment, which is currently booming due to Qatar’s massive plans to increase its LNG production Capacity from 77 million metric ton per year to 144 million metric ton by 2030.

 

What challenges did the company face during the past year, and how were they successfully navigated?

The fast construction pace experienced prior to the World Cup and subsequent drastic slow down triggered an overcapacity for most contractors and suppliers in Qatar. Over the past 2 years, our team has focused on rotating our material portfolio to adapt to this new reality and introducing several solutions aimed at targeting the Construction Mid-Market segment and the booming Oil & Gas sector. Given the recent business activity increase in the Industrial Segment in Qatar, PERI Qatar recruited several new talents to provide our customers with the best expertise and support in the region.

 

Given the evolving market dynamics, how does the company plan to stay ahead in terms of competitiveness and innovation in the Qatar formwork and scaffolding landscape?

Since its inception in 1969 by Arthur Schwoerer, a true innovator who always put the customer’s needs first, PERI has been known for the high quality of its products, its innovations and its unbelievable network of specialists and materials, present in more than 70 countries across the globe. For PERI, customer proximity is always at the foundation of our approach and this proximity is essential for the better understanding of our customer needs. The result of this continuous and close dialogue between our customers and our team in Qatar has led to the introduction in 2024 of several new innovative products that have been selected exactly based on our customer’s demand and upcoming project requirements. These products include our new ALPHADECK, HANDSET ALPHA, PD5 shoring system and our latest generation PERI UP.  It is our customer proximity, innovation, material availability and our excellent on the ground support that will keep PERI Qatar ahead of our competition in this current competitive market.

 

As customer expectations evolve, how has PERI Qatar adapted its customer service approach to stay responsive and meet clients' expectations?

As mentioned previously, maintaining very close customer proximity with our customers to understand their needs and to be able to respond immediately to their requirements, is at the core of our approach and philosophy. In the Oil and Gas sector for example, the hand-in-hand cooperation and support provided by our highly experienced and skilled PERI personnel with our customers, has enabled our customers to achieve very high productivity and safety unmatched in the market, using our state-of-the-art PERI UP scaffolding system. We have always responded promptly and proactively to our customer demands, recognizing that this level of service is essential and will significantly enhance our customers success on their projects and will ensure their continued trust in PERI.
